"business gateway"

"business gateway"

I'm studying for my exams at the moment and have come accross a few pieces of company law which I'm not sure how to translate - any ideas would be greatly appreciated as always. Many thanks smile

..

  • a business gateway

..

A business gateway is a service which provides advice and information on a range of issues for both start up and existing businesses.

..

I can't find any translations of this in my dictionaries (both paper and online) but maybe an equivalent exists in Spanish which I'm unaware of? Otherwise, I was thinking of using something like:

..

  1. Un servicio integral para negocios
  2. Un servicio de ayuda para negocios
  3. Un servicio de atención para negocios

..

I like "Un servicio de ayuda para negocios" because I think that it best conveys what the service provides.

Gracias Mariana. Have you heard this phrase being used at all in Spanish? - amy_moreno, Mar 27, 2011

I would use your first choice "Un servicio integral para negocios" because it covers all of your requirements as you have explained. I don´t think "ayuda" is necessary because "servicio" indicates this. And finally, "integral" is commonly used in Spanish to describe something complete or a part of a whole that can complete something.

I have never heard "business gateway," but catchy industry terms change all the time.

Although I am not fluent I would agree with your reason and rationale, Julian - FELIZ77, Mar 27, 2011

I googled your three expressions.

"servicio de ayuda para negocios" was the winner at 26 million. The third was only 20 million, and the first was much, much less.

Without actually using Spanish language knowledge, this ought to tell you something... smile

Edit:

I had forgotten to check the obvious - "portal de negocios" This gets over 34 million results, but I don't know if these results favor the sense of meaning you're looking for, or the Internet "portal" concept.

Muchas gracias pesta! Good thinking with googling the terms. Perhaps "Portal de negocios" would be best. Do you think it conveys the same meaning as "business gateway"? Thanks again. - amy_moreno, Mar 28, 2011
Without first-hand knowledge, I'm only guessing, but "portal" is unmistakable in meaning doorway, gateway, entrance. - pesta, Mar 28, 2011
I've had a good look at a couple of websites which explain the services of Portal de Negocios and it does seem very similar to "Busines Gateway" - I just can't find a single definition of either of them! I've exhausted all the sources I know :( - amy_moreno, Mar 29, 2011

Amy, here is an after-thought:

If your description of this service were something like "opening the door and removing obstacles of the road to success, etc," then you could use a direct translation of "Business gateway" ........ "Puerta de enlace para negocios."
