You can legally get the out of copyright FSI Spanish courses from torrents, but don't get any of the copyrighted things, because that's illegal. (And not fair to the people who spent time and money creating content)

Torrent sites include "iso hunt". You need a program to download a torrent. Always scan for viruses.

Try this, from the BBC:

Mi vida loca

It is a 22-episode interactive story, at a beginner level Spanish. It's very well made, and quite amusing even if your Spanish level has progressed beyond beginner. I recommend it highly.

In addition to what has been suggested, check out your local public library. Many libraries have popular language learning systems and books available for check-out or use at their facilities.

The video learning series at this site is very helpful. The reference material is also helpful.

If you can (I know this isn't free), buy a good English/Spanish dictionary at a local bookstore, or download a dictionary application for your mobile device.

The Apple Store has many free Spanish instructional podcasts. Mucho!!

I particularly enjoy Coffee Break Spanish. Currently there are over 70 lessons.

I realize that everyone likes to just mention this website as the be all and end all but I like to receive instruction from several different sites: everyone brings something to the table. Coffee Break Spanish, for instance, really hit it out of the park explaining how to remember the conjugation for the Imperfect. A lot, of 'a ha' moments.

LearnSpanish.com is also a free and premium website.

I eventually stepped up to the plate and paid for the rest of it, but I am quite certain the free area is quite excellent.
