Is there a word for texting in Spanish? I am trying to say " I will text you" or "Text me".

Not an official one, they use mandar un mensajito, but you know textear is actually used too, just not very officially.

Texting is still a fairly new concept and there is no official verb used meaning:
to text.

However as Jeezle rightly says the verbs mandar o textear are used to convey the idea of sending a text. Mandar is a recognised verb which can mean, amoung other things to send something: a package...via the post

Colloquial language or informal street language is usually miles ahead of formal written forms so no doubt we will see specific words finding their way into our dictionaries one day soon.including official expressions relating to texting.

Since technology is usually first embraced by savvy, street-wise teenagers they will probably be the ones coining the expressions that will find their way into our dictionaries.

Well said, Feliz. I am regularly asked to "mandeme una mensaje" from my Colombian friend. - nike907, Mar 24, 2011

When I click my cell phone to "mensajería" and then go to "text messaging" it says: "mensaje de texto". then "crear mensaje de texto".

This is direct from Telcel.

I wish Texting had never caught on as the name for sending an SMS message. Stupid word.
