There are more than one and, of course, the preterite past tense is used throughout the lessons. Try Learn Spanish, less 2.4 and lesson 2.5 [The simple past and travel]
You might also want to read some of the Reference Articles on the preterite past tense
By the way, pretérito perfecto will probably be understood, but more correct would be pretérito perfecto simple (to distingusih it from pretérito perfecto compuesto (present perfect in English) or pretérito imperfecto (imperfect simple past)
