Casi no versus Apenas

Question

I am having trouble figuring out whether to use "apenas", "apenas si" or "casi no" when trying to express words like "hardly" or "barely". Are there situations where a certain one is preferred, or are they used as synonyms?

Mostly a matter of preference. Almost none / hardly any vs. barely - take your pick.
