How do you say, "I commute" or "I am a commuter student" in Spanish?

I am seeing estudiante de cercanías or estudiante viajera, but which one is right?

I can't speak for other countries, but in Argentina we just don't have universities with dorms.

This being said, we do not have that difference. Every student is a commuter (unless this has changed in the last 8 years).

You can move closer to the university if you decide to go to a College away from home, but you still will be commuting every day yo go to classes.

So, if you are trying to explain this to a Spanish speaking friend you can just say "vivo en la universidad".

My Oxford Spansih Dictionary recognises the phrase estudiante de cercancías as correct.

Viajero does mean a traveller so it would be understood in a general sense but I do not know whether it is commonly used to convey the exact meaning you have in mind of a commuter !

You can use estudiante de cercancías with confidence and wait for the other to be confirmed by someone else
