What is the difference between vos, usted and tu? I know that usted is formal and tu is familiar but I have noted that sometimes vos is used instead of usted or tu. When is vos used instead of usted or tu?

As I recall vos is the ud. form used in Spain. It's not commonly heard spoken here in America.

No!!!m That's "vosotros". "vos" is the alternative to "tu" is parts of Latin America. - samdie, Mar 17, 2011
That's not vosotros either. vosotros is informal, plural; usted is singular and formal. - 0074b507, Mar 18, 2011
You could say that it is the L.A. "ustedes" in Spain when used informally. - 0074b507, Mar 18, 2011
