Este libro ayudará a explicar a sus hijos cómo administrar el dinero, dado que este tema ha sido un desafío para los padres a lo largo de la historia.

This book will help explain to your children how to manage money, since this issue has been a challenge for parents throughout history.

I have found the above sentence in my new book "¿Se Habla Dinero? The Everyday guide to Financial Success" which has Spanish on one page and English on the opposite page. Of course it is not a straight across translation so it poses a challenge for me to look things up I haven't run across before.

The conjunctive phrase "dado que was used here and I had never seen that use before so I learned something new. Question: Does the whole phrase "a lo largo de la histria" mean throughout history? Why is there a tilde on como when it isn't a question?

Gracias

Hi, Linda.

cómo administrar el dinero

This may have a tilde because it is an indirect question.

dado que este tema

Give that....

a lo largo de la historia.

I would say, yes, this means something like "throughout history" because "largo" is sometimes used to indicate a length of time.
