I was just wondering how to say "fur." When I search it on the dictionary, the result is "piel," but I thought that that referred to skin, or the fur of a dead animal. So far I am having no luck discovering what the word for fur is... Thanks for helping!!

"Piel" is most commonly translated as skin, but it can also be fur if you are talking about the material used to make coats (among others) that has the animal's skin with its hair attached to it, like those of bears, foxes, etc. So if you want to say that your jacket is made of fur, then piel is your guy. You'll say it is "de piel" or "de pieles".

If you are referring to just the hair of a furry animal, it is "pelo" or "pelaje" like dogwood suggested. I found a sentence that can help tell which is which:

La gata tiene el pelaje más brillante porque le cepillamos el pelo.

"pelaje" is another option.
