How do you say doesn't in Spanish when describing something that does not happen. for example it doesn't add up, it doesn't show.

Usually you just precede the verb with a no.

For example:

It doesn't show. = No muestra.

"It doesn't add up" is an idiom, I believe (so there's no literal translation), but you could say:

No tiene sentido.
