in this paragraph i need to use adverb clauses, adverb phrases and adverbial phrases..can someone help me to correct it plzz? smile

An example of compassion.

It happened to me about a year ago. While waiting for my best friend Ana at ICPNA, I met a tourist. We were sharing ideas and opinions about life. When Ana came, I had to say goodbye to my new friend evenhough I didn't remember his name. So, I just said "Goodbye and take care".

Feeling worried about him, I didn't understand why. Smiling at me, Ana asked me many questions about the way I met him.I told her everything we talked while I was waiting for her. Ana tried to convinced me to return to ICPNA.I told her that I needed to go shooping to buy a gift to my mother's birthday at Jockey Plaza. We went to, spending like an hour. After shooping, we went to take a taxi to our home because I invited Ana to my mom's party.

While waiting the taxi, we saw my friend that was being stolen by a robber. Not knowing what to do, we looked for a police man to help him. Unfortunately, we didn't found anyone. We run to him and asked him, what had happened and if he was ok. Talking to him, we realized that he didn't have money to come back to his home. So, we gave him some money in order to help him in some way. I was really sorry about what had happened to him, and I was thinking if I were me I hope someone can help me too.

After being in that situation, I'm more carefull everywhere I go.

Is this an exercise in English or are you supposed to write something in Spanish? - --Mariana--, Mar 14, 2011

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Maybe it will help you to define what is an adverbial clause and phrase, and then maybe you could give us a few examples to correct for you.

An adverbial clause is a clause that functions as an adverb. In other words, it contains a subject (explicit or implied) and a predicate, and it modifies a verb.

? I saw Joe when I went to the store. (explicit subject I)

? He sat quietly in order to appear polite. (implied subject he)

Contrast adverbial clauses with adverbial phrases, which do not contain a clause.

? I like to fly kites for fun.
