When should I vote on questions or answers here?
I would like to know if there are rules. Sorry if it should be obvious, I am old haha.
Also what are some protocols about voting on questions, answers, comments, etc.?
Like when should I vote on a question, answer, or any other parts?
Also when would be good to accept an answer? I feel like I slight the others when I do so. Just trying to be polite. Perhaps it is no big deal.

It is entirely subjective. There are no rules, beyond that you must have a certain amount of points to be eligible to vote, you cannot vote twice on the same reply, you can earn points for voting only so many questions/answers in 24 hours, etc.
There are no criteria for what you can consider a good/bad question/reply. Whatever you find interesting, helpful, informative, clever, funny, etc.
Basically, it was instituted to elevate the better answers to a position above the lesser ones for those who don't like to read all of the answers. Personally, I like find the incorrect answers usually more helpful than the correct ones. After 15 people have corrected the wrong answer you usually have a better understanding of the correct ones.
There should be a system so that we can thank those who gave incorrect answers for their participation in enriching the discussion.
Jeepers. All this time I have been voting for the one who sends me the most money via paypal.
It's not obvious, so the question is totally valid. I vote whenever I learn something from a question or answer, and in the case of answers, I vote when I know it was a good one.
As an aside, I tend to vote also when I totally agree on something being said in a "discussion" thread, especially if it's a button-pressing issue. Normally, I try to stay away, though. ![]()
