What is the difference in saying "fijate" and "sabes"
If possible, please give examples of the use of each word.
Thanks.
Then, are these words completely different in meaning?

In spain, fijate would have the same context as "mira." sabes is like "you know?"
We like "fijate" My wife uses it on me regularly. the essence is "pay attention, fix it in your mind.
On one Mexican radio program I listen to, the female host says "¡Fijate!" to express negative astonishment at something. I think it's kind of like blurting out "Oh my gosh! Can you imagine!" when you hear that someone did something ridiculous.
