You don't wish to be corrected? Please say so;)
This is not about accepting corrections but not wanting them.
I must say I feel really sad that this should be happening on this site and some people's behaviour is just so rude I can't find words.
This came up yesterday on this thread.
Cogumela in her post pointed out that some people did not only not like corrections, but they actually scolded her for them and she had got several really nasty letters about her being so incredibly helpful to all of us.
Her words:
But I've also realised that not everyone learns in the same way and overall: not everyone has the same desire to learn here. Some people are comfortable with their knowledge and don't like that their schemes get broken.
I have received several requests from people who asked me to be more acquiescent doing corrections, for example: Hey, don't be so picky and correct me only if I'm totally wrong. Please, don't correct my tildes, I just want to learn to speak Spanish, thanks. Hey, this is what my textbook says, and I know for a fact that many natives don't follow the rules, please respect my own way of learning,
There is no obligation on this site to accept corrections , of course, though it is mandatory to use correct spelling and capitalization, and yes, I personally implemented that as soon as this site became a learning site. You might not know that this site not always had lessons, but as soon as they were launched I thought it was simply out of the question to look like "yahoo.answers" . On a learning site, the least one needs is a certain standard and correct spelling in your own language.
On the Word of the Day or Picture of the Day, we are really lucky to have cogumela to offer corrections. I sometimes chime in, but I don't have time for everything. We are also grateful to any member who corrects, so if you see a mistake, anywhere on any post, please indicate this to the member
So it is out of the question to tell the corrector, hey, don't correct my tildes. If you don't want corrections (apart from the correct spelling which is always mandatory) you have two options:
1) Don't participate on the threads mentioned.
2) Please indicate you are happy with your Spanish and do not wish to be corrected
What you cannot do under any circumstances at all is say this to the member:
Learn Spanish and English before offering corrections!
I had no idea this was happening and trust me, it would not have happened as cogumela said, more than once, if she had told the admins.
A member who is that rude to one of our best forers on this site who is always friendly always willing to help...., will be a candidate for banning. I am truly disgusted that this should be happening on this site.

I find this absolutely incomprehensible . How can anyone complain that their
attempts at either spanish or English not be corrected . are they expecting to travel
through life doing and saying exactly what they please , without fear of
consequences,how absurd and nonsensical is that . And to hear that someone
of the calibre of Cogumela has been abused ,is to me obscene. I feel ashamed
that this has happened to one of the finest , nicest and highly intelligent young
women i have ever had the pleasure to have been acquainted with . These people
should hang their heads in shame , think deeply on what you have said and
apologise , if for no other reason than to resurrect your bad Karma.
Laura please know that the esteem and love that we all feel for you should
more than compensate for their bad and unreasonable behaviour.

There really is no need for this...! I have already said that I turn a deaf ear to rudeness, so it doesn't have any importance.
I appreciate all your kind words, but I don't deserve so many flowers. Let's let this subject alone, Heidi, it doesn't matter.

Although I obviously don't know which members have been so offensive to someone as genuinely nice as Cogu, I would like to ask them to think before they PM/post. Cogu is voluntarily spending an immense amount of time and energy on your behalf, assuming to be helpful to you, because she is the kind and graceful person that she is.
She doesn't deserve any negative responses. Even if you don't appreciate being corrected, you should have the decency to express that in a non-offensive and kind way. If you aren't capable of doing so then you are not suitable to SD.
As for Cogu, please remember that probably 98% of SD's members are as grateful as I am for your corrections and wouldn't dream of being offensive to you in any way.

Cogumela, you've corrected me since I started using Spanish Dict and I just wanted to say "thank you"! It has been really useful to be corrected by you.
Having heard Laura(Cogumela) state that she is shy and doesn't want to be complimented, I will not make any comments regarding how she is a natural teacher, with a patient way about her! Nor will I say, how much she has helped others as well as myself with her gentle corrections! Neither will I point out how many times she corrects repetitive mistakes never employing the phrase, "How many times do I have to tell you?" Finally, I'll simply agree not to point out what a valuable assest she is and how lucky we are to have her! I won't say it I promise!
A few weeks back, we had a patient in the free clinic that saw the doctor, received for free over $1,000 of free lab work, $200 of x-rays, an EKG and all the medicine the doctor thought was indicated. Everything was free. Before she left, she (as we say in the southern US) "bawled me out" as I handed her the free prescription because she had to be there for 2 1/2 hours.
I was speechless. I am speechless here, too. This level of thankless rude behavior is appalling.
As I have said in previous threads, posts, and PMs, thank you cogumela and everyone who corrects my posts. I hope you receive a blessing for your efforts.
How unfortunate for cogumela to be treated so rudely , I for one am more than happy with her corrections and words of encouragement and trust her completely to steer me through the maze of Spanish words . I could never do this alone so thank you cogumela, no matter what anyone else thinks.
I don't think I can add anything to what Heidi and Ray have said, other than my total agreement and support. Maybe a big virtual hug to try to compensate for the bad vibes.
Here is my recommendation:
If someone does this once, they get a warning from Heidi, telling them that if they do it again, they will lose their membership and be banned from the site.
If they do it twice, they are banned from the site.
This is not worth getting upset about. People will act in ways that will surprise you. Our responsibility is to make sure that they do not damage the good work of so many good people on this site.
I hope my message is not lost in the great number of opinions expressed (again) here...
My primary concern on this topic is that we need to learn.
I cannot feel it's worth my time to come here if I would see average students writing freely in their personal (and maybe defective) style, without corrections !!!!
I don't care if the messages are not edited to make them perfect. I would allow that people could post messages of all kinds and ignore the corrections. But I would want to see comments showing what's right or wrong, so I can learn what's really right !!!
When a message is commented for corrections by (for example) cogumela, I know it is worth reading and I can learn from it. If the author doesn't correct it, I can even learn more !!! -- I can learn what they wrote wrong (and that is something I can accidentally do too) and I can learn how it should really be written.
I don't wish to embarrass cogumela by singling her out for praise here - she is not the only extremely valuable talent in our family - But I would not hesitate to delete the account of any SD member who would criticize constructive corrections from anyone. It should be a forum rule that criticism of language MUST be tolerated by authors, for the benefit of the learning experience for everybody. That is consistent with the purpose of SpanishDict.

You know what, what I am about to say is for all you selfish people... STOP making it about you. This site is intended to help a general audience learn Spanish or English and if possible cater to specific needs. But this ridiculous garbage about, "waaah, I don't want to be corrected" and especially insulting the intelligent moderators of this forum should not be tolerated. I am a very straight-forward and blunt person, and I say if you want to learn Spanish (or English) the wrong way, do it somewhere else. If you want to speak improperly and sound stupid, learn somewhere. Don't force your terrible practices on the individuals who try hard to help and maintain Span¡shD!ct, as the revolutionary place to Spanish & English, as it is. 
We are here to teach people the right way, and you're not welcome to destroy that. We consider important to add tildes where needed, use correct spelling, use proper punctuation, and use correct grammar. You should have read the rules and understood you are subject to them when you participate here. If not, it is your fault and, again, you need to stupify yourself elsewhere.

And furthermore, I've told people to correct my posts for me if I miss something. So, I give all the Mods on here permission to do so, and just leave me a note, like hey you forgot this or something like that. I would rather the learners see it the right way, than chance them seeing my mistake and repeating it because they didn't notice or understand the comment about corrections.
I am very very grateful that my best attempts at speaking and writing Spanish should be corrected by native Spanish speakers at SpanishDict, especially as they do this from the best motives out of the kindness of their hearts. 
Like Ray, I am almost left speechless that people could possibly be so dumb/stupid as to not want their work corrected by those who could help us to improve. If that is really the case why do they even bother to submit it here? Why join a community of people to learn a foreign language and then say, in effect, I do not want to learn??? It makes no sense. It would be like paying for driving instruction and then turning around to the teacher and saying do not correct me.... I do not want to improve!
I am utterly amazed that someone would come to language learning site and then complain about being corrected. Time permitting I would participate more, but my hat is off to all you wonderful folks that are so committed here at SD, without you this place would be a shambles. I welcome positive correction, something that cogumela has always been able to do, in a spirit of kindness yet with confidence. Of course there are others that put in 'hard time' here trying to make it a better place and it is appreciated.

And I hope this never changes. Compared to SD, Yahoo.Answers is like pilfering through a trash bin trying to find something that might be useful. The people exhibiting this bad behavior need a slap

My brain is spinning in my head over this. What's the point of coming to a site like this, if not to learn. How can you learn if your mistakes are not pointed out? I thank Cogumela and others for taking their valuable time to correct mistakes and teach us the proper usage of Spanish.
