I've heard both of them used, and they are both adjectives, is there any difference in when to use them?

Me alegra tanto oir tu voz.

It delights me so much to hear your voice.

Estoy tan feliz de oir tu voz.

I'm so happy to hear your voice.

Different way of saying the same thing.

So, is "alegra" a verb and Feliz an adjective? - esgoode, Mar 9, 2011
"alegra" is a conjugated form of the verb "alegrar". The noun is "alegría" and "alegre" is the adjective. - 00e657d4, Mar 9, 2011

Happy and cheerful - from the verb "alegrarse" - me alegro - it makes me cheerful / pleased / happy.

La alegría se exterioriza más.La persona con alegria se rie a carcajadas, o al menos su estado de animo es muy visible para los demas.

La persona feliz no hace tan visible su estado de ánimo.Quizá no notes que es feliz. Creo que la felicidad es más espiritual,más sosegada,más interior.

Una persona manifiesta su alegria dando saltos.Una persona feliz solo sonrie.
