Simpática y banal comedia romaántica a la que no le hubiera venido mal un poquito de ambición estética.

Can someone help with the meaning of the bold letters? My guess is

It the comedy was missing aestetic ambition but what is the proper meaning of "no le hubiera venido" please and thanks.

My guess is it sounds like a gentle critique; something to the effect of:

A nice and banal romantic comedy that would not have been harmed by a little bit of aesthetic ambition.

I would like to add that strictly speaking the correct form would be:

Simpática y banal comedia romántica a la que no le habría venido mal un poquito de ambición estética.

But it is a very common mistake in Spanish to use hubiera instead of habría in this kind of sentences.

This light and frivolous romantic comedy would not have been hurt by a little more aesthetic ambition.

It would have been a much better theatrical experience if they had paid more attention to the lighting, scenery, costumes etc. Basically, they were artistically lazy. It wasn't horrible, but it could have been better.
