As most Catholics would know, today is Ash Wednesday which starts 40 days of Lent (Cuaresma) until Holy Week (La Semana Santa), which in turn precedes Easter (La Pascua). I got this translation for Ash Wednesday from Wikipedia. Is this how it is really referred to in the Spanish world?

I think you're right.

Everywhere I look on the Internet people use "Miércoles de Ceniza" for Ash Wednesday.
