Is there an equivalent expression for "to make assumptions" in Spanish? Thanks for any help!

I thik it is: suponer or hacer suposiciones.
I don't know of the word has another meaning in English.

I'd go for the latter. To suppose (suponer) can be subtly different to to make assumptions. - afowen, Mar 7, 2011
