Camping Activities
I need to write about a camping trip, but I can't figure out how to say half the things I did! I was having trouble with the phrase "to go hiking." I found "dar una caminata," "hacer senderismo," and "escalar las montañas." What is the difference between these phrases? I also wasn't sure about how to say "to kayak," "to go offroading," and "leanto." Can someone help?

Fuimos de campamento.
Levantamos la tienda de campaña.
Dimos un paseo.
Yo remé en kayak por el lago.
Después recogimos leña y encendimos una fogata.
Al día siguiente escalamos la montaña.
Espero que te sirvan. Saludos.
We went out on camping.
We build up the tent.
I row through the lake in kayak.
Later, we pick up branches and started a fire.
Next day, we climbed the mountain.
(help me with my English, please)
kittycow, I see you have completed the video lesson on these terms (2.13).
"Kayak" and "off-road" are in the dictionary on this site. There are some helpful entries in the phrasebook also that might be helpful. They appear just below the definitions in the dictionary.
Hope that helps!
Luis, you help us all the time. I'll be happy to suggest some English changes.
We went camping. We put up the tent. I canoed the lake in a kayak. Later, we picked up branches and started a fire. The following day, we climbed the mountain.
Thanks for your help. I'm glad to return the favor! ![]()
kittycow brought up a good question. I used "canoed" in the above example because "canoe" can be used as a verb (according to Merriam Webster). I can't find a reference using "kayak" as a verb, but I have heard it in conversation.
kittycow, why don't you post your translation on the forum and let some of the more members more advanced than me review it?
