It took 8 months of hard work by a team of really awesome people. (I certainly learned a lot about stage lighting and sound engineering!) Thank you so much to the amazing actors for providing the talent and helping people learn the correct way to pronounce words in Spanish! You guys are the best!

I can't wait to hear what the SD community thinks!

I wish I could get a list of all the words that she does so I can listen to them in my time.

I wonder if this is possible, I will investigate or Paralee herself might see this questiongrin

I don't like being the first to sound a negative note but ...

Because of frequent questions (and some disagreements) about b|v, I checked out the videos for "cabo" and "uva". In both cases the b|v is intervocalic and should be pronounced with the so-called "soft b sound". For "cabo" the male speaker pronounced the "b" correctly when reading/saying the word isolation or in a sentence but when pronouncing the word "slowly" (emphasizing the two syllables) he switched to the "strong b sound". I know many speakers (in many languages, not just Spanish) do this (i.e. distort the natural pronunciation when trying to speak slowly). The video for "uva" was worse still. The only time she pronounced the 'v' with the "weak b|v sound" was when saying the full sentence. For the word in isolation and, even more clearly, when emphasizing the syllables, she used the labio-dental "v" sound of English (and several other languages) which, in Spanish is a major "no-no". She does the same thing in the video for "vaca".

There still does to be some confusion about B - V thing. - ian-hill, Mar 7, 2011
Ian , there still seems to be ...:) - FELIZ77, Mar 7, 2011
or there still does seem to be .... - FELIZ77, Mar 7, 2011
yep - ian-hill, Mar 8, 2011
Wow, you're right. But when she says vaca in the sentence, it sounds like she says it right. Just when she breaks it down is when she does the spanglish pronunciation. - Goyo, Mar 8, 2011

That's really great. I think they will be very useful.

I noticed that the woman uses seseo pronunciation (I had to make sure "cerveza" was included in the list of most important words). Is this going to be the rule, or will there be examples of pronunciations from different regions?

What is 'seseo' pronunciation, por favor? - Lise-Laroche, Mar 7, 2011
It's the common pronunciation of Latin America, where the S, Z, and soft C are all pronounced the same (like an English S). - KevinB, Mar 7, 2011
That's compared to distinción used in many parts of Spain (particularly around Madrid) where the soft C and Z are pronounced like a theta (soft English TH), and ceceo, where all 3 are like a TH. - KevinB, Mar 7, 2011
