I have a question about a use of sino -

If I wanted to say, "I couldn't help but see it" would that be "no pude sino verlo" ????

Thanks!

If you (mentally) translate "sino" as "but, rather," you will avoid problems.

Another good lesson on when to use "pero" or "sino."

It's right but we don't use it a lot in that context, there it would be better to say: No pude hacer nada más que verlo.

Here are some examples that will help you.

Me gustan las canciones de amor pero esté cancion no es de amor sino de odiar, es sobre un chico que enfadarse con su padre y se llama Un chico ha llamado Sue. Above is a sentence using sino. I like love songs but this is not a love song but rather a song of hate, it is about a boy who became angry with is father and the song is called A boy named Sue.
