What is the english translation for the word 'estan'?

One of my child's spanish vocabulary words is 'están'. The teacher did not give the english translation for this word nor was I able to find out on the Spanish Dict website. Please help.

If you look under the "more" tab above you can choose conjugation. Type, están in the box and it will take you where you need to go.

It is the present third person plural conjugation of "estar" or "to be"
i.e. "they are"
