I am in a NYC high school which calls its students, "scholars" in order to better motivate them towards excellence.

This has been translated into "escolares" in Spanish. Does "escolares" mean the same thing in Spanish as "scholars" does in English?

Hi Martin, welcome to the forum. As Difuso has pointed out - escolares really means 'schoolchildren' and does not translate to the English meaning of 'scholar' - in Spanish a 'scholar' would be 'un sabio' or 'experto/becario' A Rhodes Scholar would be El Becario Rhodes.

"Escolares" is used only for young students - maybe not older than 14
