I think you are correct Nila -
Your Spanish sentence says nothing about the sandwich being "toasted".
That sounds like a toasted cheese sandwich or a grilled cheese sandwich.

Dorm life! Making them with an iron.

Then, "a grilled cheese sandwich with butter" if it is toasted
And "a sandwich with processed cheese and butter" if it is not toasted.
Is it this?
I believe "fundido" cheese in this sentence means "melted cheese", not "processed cheese".
In my experience, the cheese is placed on a piece of bread, and they are both heated until the cheese is melted. When we could afford it, another piece of bread is placed on the top, and melted butter is applied to the top by a brush or pouring. If we didn't have enough bread for everyone, butter was applied to the bread. We called that an "open-faced" cheese sandwich.
I have not heard of making a sandwich of process cheese and butter, but some people in the US are selling sticks of "deep fried butter" that is rolled in an oily batter and fried.
I guess anything is possible, but Q has given some pictures that look pretty accurate to what I understand.
I think I'll go make lunch now.
