In English we have the phrase "I like", but in Spanish there is no such phrase. Instead they use
"me gusta" = I like (one item)
"me gustan" = I like (2 or more items)
"le gusta" = he or she likes (one item)
"le gustan" = he or she likes (2 or more items)
