In New Mexico chile for the peppers is almost always used. Here in Texas it is a mixture of chile and chili. Any linguistic preferences?

Chile (capitalized of course) and chile = the country and pepper, respectively.... chili = what Wolf's brand puts out! Just off the cuff, mind you... raspberry

The answer is Chile (República de Chile) is a country and chilé is a seasoning. Chili is a sort of stew.
