esta goes before a feminine noun: Esta ropa, esta caja, esta silla.

este goes before a masculine noun: Este carro, este perro, este sillón.

esto is often used when you are describing things: esto es lo que vamos a hacer, esto es un aparato de respiración, you can use the other two words like this but you can't use this one like the others like: Esto carro, or esto perro, or esto silla, that doesn't exist, but you can say esta es la ropa que me voy a poner or este es el carro que voy a manejar.

I hope to have helped you. Welcome to the forum. smile
