Hi boss, a man called in the morning, he is the president of some country, I think he wanted a presidential suite, 8 rooms, room service, gold sheets, jacuzzi, a personal assistant and a slide to the pool but you know, I am learning English so I wasn't sure and I asked him to call later.

He hasn't called yet. smile

Dakie, since you are working the night shift would you say "in the morning" or "last night" in English even if the call occured in the pre-dawn hours? :) - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
Excellent answer! - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
Well, in Spanish I would say "en la madrugada" but I prefer your advice in English, how would you say it?, last night?, morning?, pre-dawn? - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
la mardrugada is early morning. - BellaMargarita, Feb 27, 2011
Thanks :). - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
Dakkie, especially in your case, if something went wrong in the presendial suite, the owner or manager would like to know it was done on the night shift, rather than the day or morning shift, so using in the night is my suggestion. Dawn is okay, too. - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
Dakie, excellent answer. As Bandit mentioned "last night" or even "this morning". - Yeser007, Feb 27, 2011
Thanks Yeser. :) - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
Gold sheets :O, hehe...nice answer Gabby!!! - HotChickCD, Feb 28, 2011
Yeeei, I didn't change it so people can see the errors. - Dakie, Feb 28, 2011
Hi boss, a man called this morning, he is the present of some country and I think he wanted a presidential suite with 8 rooms, room service, gold sheets, jacuzzi, a personal assistant and and a door (or private entrance) to the pool. However, - HotChickCD, Feb 28, 2011
Thanks Cassie. :) - Dakie, Feb 28, 2011
you know I am learning English so I was unsure and asked him to call back later. PS: He hasn't called back as yet :) - HotChickCD, Feb 28, 2011

Hola jefe, Kanye West llamó esta mañana. Desafortunadamente, parece que estara pasando este fin de semana aqui. Me pidió que, por favor, no escupamos en la comida este vez. raspberry

Kanye West is a gayfish (for all the south park fans) lol

I have such a problem understanding the conjugation rules for bucear. - Yeser007, Feb 27, 2011

Suite de cola? mmm, I would say just "grand suite". - Dakie, Feb 28, 2011
I debated this for a couple minutes with myself. I found grand suite looked soooo much like English and not Spanish :D When exactly would you use ''de cola''? I know hacer cola - to form a line & piano de cola - grand piano. - HotChickCD, Feb 28, 2011
But not sure where else to use cola :S - HotChickCD, Feb 28, 2011

Jefe:

Gracias,

Renzo

Dear boss,

I got a call from a Mr. de la Vega, who says has stayed in our hotel before. Funny how I could not find him in our client database. He wanted me to reserve the Presidental Suite for him for March 14-16. When I quoted him $1,000 a night he almost fell off his chair. He asked me to talk to the hotel manager about getting him a discount. Please call him at the number I jotted down on the computer.

Thanks,

Renzo

A: El turno día supervisor

De: El turno de noche

He reservado la habitación número ciento uno para Sr. Llamado En; ha solicitado una king size, no salón de fumar por el "spring break", del 7 al 14 de marzo.

To: Day Shift Supervisor

From: Night Shift

I've reserved room number 101 for Mr. Called In; he has requested a king size, non-smoking room for spring break, March 7 - 14.

HotChick: The rules say to use just one sentence but I made this more formal, like a memo. If you don't wish this, just let me know and I'll change it! - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
Dakie or moderators, did I use the to/from correctly and the date ranges correctly! Gracias - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
I would say "Mr llamó" although it sounds weird anyway so maybe "Mr. llamó en la madrugada" fits better I think, ... we don't transllate king size, so that would be "Ha solicitado una King size", ... cuarto de no fumar... - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
We also know a lot the word "spring break" so you could have said "Por el "Sprink break"", anyway it's correct. - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
I loved that you didn't write the personal pronoun "él" in the phrase "ha solicitado". - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
Dakie, I was trying to be funny with the "Called In" as the last night. I guess it didn't come across like that! :) - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
Yes I know you tried that, actually my try "Mr. llamó en la madrugada" was trying to help with that. ;) - Dakie, Feb 27, 2011
Again, I can't help thanking you. I'm beginning to use more than just the present tense and will make many mistakes along the way. Your feedback has been super! - bandit51jd, Feb 27, 2011
Great job bandit!!! I am glad you are benefiting from this exercise. I see you improving day and day and I know soon you will be proficient in Spanish :) - HotChickCD, Feb 28, 2011
