Why is the verb "esta" used for nublado, but all other weather (sol, frio, calor) uses "hacer"- and what is the difference?

'nublado' is an adjective - 'cloudy'

'sol', 'frío', 'calor' - nouns.

hace viento(there is wind) but está ventoso(it's windy)

so:

-'hacer' can be understood as 'there is' (but not always!)

-'estar' can be understood as 'it is' (but not always!)

RAE gives something like that for 'hacer' : Expresses quality or a state of the weather., like 'hace buen tiempo', 'hace malo', 'hace sol', 'hace calor'

wink
