You really would want to have several, that way you can confirm your study from more than one source. - pacofinkler, Feb 26, 2011

I think you need to be more specific, ref. the answers given here. Are you looking for a dictionary gadget, like Franklin, or something you can access on any computer or mobile phone? In the latter case, do you want something online, or will you have to download it?

In my case, I'm very happy with the Oxford Spanish Dictionary (the unabridged one) that I bought for my mobile phone in 2005, it's actually still my favorite. Back then, I bought it for a PalmOS based phone, and now I have a Windows Mobile based one, so I use a program called Styletap to access it, but it's still going strong smile.

If you want to go online, I can recommend http://mobile-dictionary.reverso.net/english-spanish, wordreference, and this very site, of course.

Take care smile

I think they're looking for the actual gadget, not online. - gone, Feb 26, 2011

Hola artdoer:

....and welcome to SpanishDict.com!

You are at the correct site. Congratulations!

I use Oxford Spanish Dictionary on CD-Rom for windows.

You can get it at bn.com or amazon.com.

I also use Word Magic. You can download several products, or get the CD.

I use Dictionary & Tools Professional version. It is a bit more price, but has a lot of features, and they have various plugins that you can buy, but it is worth it.

Both of these are tremendous recourses for anyone learning Spanish.

I have a small machine called "Franklin Bookman" which I bought about 12 years ago in a branch of Radio Shack in the US. It still functions today. I´ve changed the battery once in that time. It´s portable. You can translate vocabulary. It also allows you to practise your verb conjugations, use of articles; it has flashcards. It´s fantastic.

I think babylon is by far the best. Their commercial products are expensive, but they have some highly useable free online solutions.

Thanks for all of the comments. I am looking for a device like Franklin or ECTACO or Lingo, I think. I have an iPhone and I have downloaded several apps that I do not really like that much; specifically, Lingosoft Teacher and Lingosoft Dictionary. I just downloaded Ultralingua Dictionary, but have not tested it much yet. The Ultralingua Dictionary does look easier to use. Maybe I do not need a separate device if I have a great dictionary for my iPhone, but I want access to verb conjugation. I am seriously considering taking an immersion Spanish class in Veracruz, Mexico. We are to bring the 501 Verbs textbook and a Spanish-English dictionary. I thought an electronic device would be easier to handle rather than a big dictionary. Any advice on devices and immersion courses would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
