Which way is Proper?
I work in an office and every day I give directions to pacients. They generally understand me but I would love to know which sounds better when I say take a right. Toma la calle a la derecha o gira hacia la derecha? A gran majority of the time when I am giving directions I use the verb Tomar instead or Girar. But I use Girar in the operatory when I want them to turn the head. Like gira la cabeza hacia me. But could I also use Mirar instead of Girar? Like mirame? Just wondering. Thanks in advance!

Hi, loren, I always think of girar as turning more in place, although it's not always used that way. Tomar is the more common word, but if it is in the form of a command
Take the street to the right, I would say
Tome la calle a la derecha.
When you ask them to turn their head, girar seems the better word, since girar can be used more for "turning from a base point", or turning in place.
Look at me, or watch me: (again, command) Mireme, por favor.
