The difference between duro and difícil...

Is "difícil" used to describe things that are hard to do or accomplish, while "duro" is used to describe things that actually are hard, like stone or granite? I know they both mean "hard", but I don't think you would say:

"Esta prueba es muy duro". I think you would use "difícil", but I've been wrong before.

Gracias.

"Duro" hard,"dificil" difficult. That is the easy explanation , we can fiddle with the words to fit our needs. "trabajo duro" work hard, trabajo dificil" a difficult job.
