What does "altar de familia" mean?
It's a phrase, part of a question in my Spanish 2 book and I can't figure out what it means. I thought it meant "family altar" but I don't get it... Here's the question.. ¿Tenía usted su "altar de familia" ayer a las 7:00?
It's confusing me haha... what can it mean ?
I think it means ... Were you having your "family altar" yesterday at 7:00?
but that doesn't make sense to me, what is it, devotions ??

Googling online I find the phrase la altar familiar used on several sites. I seems to refer to home (family) worship (not a physical altar)

Some of the old homes here in Chihuahua have an "altar" some even have a family chapel. By that, I'll refer to the altar in the home as a "family altar", or "altar de familia".
I don't know the phrase, so I would translate it literaly, as you did, even if it doesn't make sense, and I would say that yes, it's devotions.
