I find the word "encino: or vairations of it "encinoso or encinosa: on a few of the maps I have to work with in my profession as a ranch broker. Mostly I find that word as a place name... such as Canon Encinoso or Pararita Encinoso. I think that it means "hard wood"... but can't verify that...

holm oak is an evergreen tree with holly like young leaves

Encina is Spanish for the Holly Oak.
