I guess it depends on your definition of craziness. Is craziness defined as a large group of people allowing a small centralized repressive regime to dictate their lives to them and their progeny for scores of years, or is craziness what occurs when the people in the larger group finally realize that they have had enough of such repression and take steps to change things?

I know that not everyone is interested, and I certainly don't wish to offend anyone commenting here but some may be interested to know that what is happening on the world's political scene today can be equated with an exciting fulfillment of the prophecy that Daniel gave in Daniel chapter 2 - two and half thousand years ago.

There Daniel identified world rulers down that would appear through the ages by explaining a dream that Nebuchadnezzar, a king of Babylon, had about a giant statue of a man with a golden head, breasts and arms were of silver, belly and thighs were copper, legs of iron, and feet partly of iron and partly of molded clay.

He told Nebuchadnezzar directly that the Babylonian empire was represented by the golden head (Daniel 2:37) and that the following parts of the images represented coming world rulerships that would successively appear on the earth. Obviously these were not all of the rulerships that would appear but these were rulerships that would effect God's chosen people.

The rulerships were as follows - Bablyon, Medo Persia, Greece, Rome, Anglo/American. Then he said that the rulership represented by the feet made of iron mixed with clay, meant that world rulership would come to be mixed with the people. And that is what is happening today in the places that you mentioned. The people are taking the power. So it's an exciting fulfillment of prophecy that is happening around us.

The next part of the prophecy is amazing because Daniel then stated that this would be the end of human rulership. That humans had then used up the alotted time for them to try to rule themselves and given the disasterous results God was then going to take over rulership of the earth with his own kingdom, or as we might say government.

Dan 2:44 “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;

This is that 'kingdom' that Jesus taught his followers to pray for in the Lord's prayer. So Bible prophecy explains why the world seems to have gone crazy and what is going to happen next.

Jesus answer to his disciples regarding the end of this system of things (not the end of the world) in Matthew 24 is like listening to today's world news, between the conflicts, wars, pestilences, food shortages, earthquakes etc but it's interesting in verse 38 Jesus also foretold that many would just carry on with life and pay no attention to the fulfilment of these prophecies. smile

Good answer Marie Claire :) - FELIZ77, Feb 21, 2011

Daniel is one of my favorite books. - Beatrice-Codder, Feb 21, 2011
This is so revisionist (and outright incorrect) that it deserves a flag, but I'm not a flagger. Please learn some history. - lorenzo9, Feb 21, 2011
@ Feliz, Amistosa1 & Beatrice, thank you for your comments. @ Lorenzo did you notice my comment that the world powers mentioned by Daniel are not all or even the largest world powers but rather the ones who would affect the Jewish nation. - Kiwi-Girl, Feb 21, 2011
just incase it's that bit that you take issue with. :) - Kiwi-Girl, Feb 21, 2011

Seb, I see in your profile that you are in London. You would have to live quite a few years in a third-world country to understand that the craziness you speak of is not on the part of these oppressed people, but on the part of the blood-thirsty, money-hungry, evil tyrants who have been choking their own countries´ people for decades.

These people are not crazy - they are heros!

Moammar Gadhafi makes Adolf Hitler look like Santa Clause.

The only reason Western governments haven´t interfered with these tyrants during all these years is big oil.

There are a lot of business interests other than oil, and the West has a long history of supporting brutal regimes that their business interests want to continue. - lorenzo9, Feb 21, 2011

I suppose you can only work "the willing horse" for so long. These people have been subjugated for so long now, many of them cannot remember when it actually began. Eventually all oppressed human beings rise up and hit out violently against injustice. Lets hope the outcome is a peaceful resolution, however, I can't help feeling that there are extremists waiting in the wings to fill the vacuum.

I agree! I would much rather see a "bloodless revolution" than a prolonged and violent war. Of course, you are also right to be wary about who steps in to fill that power vacuum. - Izanoni1, Feb 21, 2011

Very briefly, cellphones and the internet make it much harder for governments to suppress ideas and information.

I don't want to spark any tempers, but anyone who has studied some history on the area would realize that this is completely normal. Whether it be from the times of the Joshuan wars where the newly freed jews (from the Egyptian Pharoah) fought against the pagan tribes, the spread of Islam (sometimes peaceful and other times not), the crusades (and brief Frankish rule in the Levant), or any other entity which has held influence in the area (of which there have been many), the wars and violence which we have seen in our era are much less "crazy" than what has preceded them.

I, like some others on this page, am a firm believer in the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, and this just seems to be another step in that direction.

Well, is it really that surprisng that these people have been protesting in places like China, Libya and Bahrain in view of the oppressive regimes that so many of these people have been living under for so long with denial of human rights in China and probably Libya, and the likely oppression of the Shí'ite muslims in Bahrain I think Egypt is a different situation which radical muslim extremists maybe trying to take advantage of for their own purposes to destabilise the Egyptian govenment. I do not defend the Egyptian government in any of their past or present actions but simply consider that the potential alternatives could be even worse...should the radical element gain control.

I'm sorry, but this is the perspective that has led the USA to oppose democracy around the world while at the same time giving lip service to how great it is. The piper is standing right over there with his hand out. . . - lorenzo9, Feb 21, 2011
