Verdad: feminine noun 1. truth (en general) decir la verdad -> to tell the truth
Verdadera adjective. True, real, sincere, ingenuous, good, veritable; truthful.

Verdad can mean truth, but it is often used to make confirmatory statements. Por ejemplo: La muchacha es hermosa ¿Verdad?. Verdadera is more like true. Por ejemplo: Mi querido amigo es una vardadera fuente de inspiración - My friend is a true source of inspiration.
