Con él and con ella = consigo?

No, consigo= with him/her/them selves.

Él llevaba una maleta consigo. He was carrying a suitcase with himself.

Ella llevaba una bolsa consigo. She was carrying a bag with herself.

good try, you just don't need the 'with' and often you can leave the whole 'himself' bit unsaid in English - He was carrying the suitcase. or if you want to stress perhaps that someone else should have been doing it or you were shocked to see - Kiwi-Girl, Feb 21, 2011

Consigo is used reflexively : consigo= with himself/herself/itself/themselves etc

But:

conmigo: with me

contigo: with you

con él: with him

con ella: with her

con ellos: with them

con usted: with you

etc. Hope that helps
