Well, just sort of guessing, but ..to me "Are we clear on/about this?" sounds to be nearer the meaning than "Have we made ourselves clear" .

"Have we made ouselves clear" sounds to me to be the expression of some "we" to a second party (or parties) asking if that second party has indeed understood.

On the other hand, "Are we clear on this" sounds to me more like "are we agreed", which is what (again, perdón, I am guessing) "Nos queda claro" sounds like to me.

What do you think? could this be?

To me, in "Are we clear about it?" I wouldn't use the personal pronoun and I and rather I would say "Ha quedado claro". - Dakie, Feb 20, 2011

Is it clear? = Está claro?, Have we made ourselves clear? = Nos hemos dado a entender?.

But I heard "¿Queda claro?" ¿Está claro? but you know to English speakers, quedar is more of a mystery even though I know all it's sly forms. ¿Queda claro? and Nos queda claro etcc.... are more mysterious than estar.

Well maybe but they're both acceptable. - Dakie, Feb 20, 2011
