Al día siguiente y el día siguiente

Question

1.En casa, nos acostábamos muy temprano, porque teníamos que madrugar al día siguiente.

2.En casa, nos acostábamos muy temprano, porque teníamos que madrugar el día siguiente.

I wonder what are the differences between al día and el día.

I think, the first sentence means "all those days in the past that had to get up early everyday."

The second sentence, in my opinion, it means "that day we had to sleep early , because had to get up early the next day"

Am I correct?

What does "al día" mean?

I know "el día siguiente" is the following day. But I think the following day and the next day is the same mean, right?

I only use "al día" starting sentences like: "Al día siguiente, nos fuimos a comer", "Al día siguiente recogimos la casa", only when I will tell something else.

Hola j-j ¿cómo estás? I would think of 'en casa' as 'at home' so *1.En casa, nos acostábamos muy temprano, porque teníamos que madrugar al día siguiente.

At home, we went to bed very early, because we had to get up early the next day.

2.En casa, nos acostábamos muy temprano, porque teníamos que madrugar el día siguiente*

At home, we went to bed early, because we had to get up early the following day.
