Isn't the emphasis already on the penultimate syllable when the last letter is a vowel? Or is there a special rule when a word ends in a duo-vowel?

So far as I know, eo will always be counted as two syllables, no matter where it is in the word. - webdunce, Feb 19, 2011
io, ia, ie, uo, ua, ue, oi, ai, ei, and au are all usually counted as one syllable unless there is a tilde over the i or over the u. - webdunce, Feb 19, 2011

no diphthong is formed with the eo. Diphthongs are a weak&strong; vowel combination. - 0074b507, Feb 19, 2011
