I have been coming up with this word too often recently, but couldn't find the exact translation. Here's one example. La batata no es un alimento que se suela utilizar mucho en la cocina española. Here's how I translated it, in general: The sweet potato isn't food that is used a lot in Spanish cuisine. But literally, how would you translate this sentence, what does 'se suela' mean, what is the infinitive of this verb?

Suela ... from the verb Soler (to do/to be usually).
La batata no es un alimento que se suela utilizar mucho en la cocina española.
Sweet potato is not an ingredient that is usually used in Spanish cuisine.
Suela can also mean shoe sole.
