I can't remember what it's called, but there's a type of raffia made from bamboo.

Attractive and interesting - no doubt the product of someone very skillfull. But, even after looking at the items shown on the link - I wonder if any of it has any utility value beyond interesting attractiveness. Does the item shown in the pic have any purpose? I think it may be a hobby project similar to origame.
