The sentence I'm translating says. "Pride exalts oneself over others." The machine translation is "La soberbia exalta a sí mismo por encima de otros." Is that right? "Por encima de" doesn't seem to be correct to me in this case. Is it?

I would say por encima de los demás it's common.

The English is faulty. You can say Pride exalts self . . . but not Pride exalts oneself ... In the first, the meaning would be that the feeling of pride would cause any person to feel exalted. In the second it sounds like the idea that pride is doing something to itself, but then the correct pronoun would be itself
