Should I use "descrubir," "encontrar," or something else?

Should I use "descrubir," "encontrar," or something else?

I live in the midwest US. Last night at a local Mexican restaurant I saw a Spanish-language newspaper called "Red Latina." I don't know what verb to use to write about it. In English, I'd probably say "I discovered a new newspaper" (since it was new to me) or "I found a new newspaper (using found as a synonym for "discovered). Would either "Descrubí un periódico nuevo" or "Encontré un periódico nuevo" be appropriate in this context, or should I use a different verb completely? Any other corrections would be appreciated.

Muchas gracias. Me gusta este foro. Es uno de mis maestros favoritos!

I think Descubrí un periódico nuevo sounds better for your article. I believe the meanings are parallel in English and Spanish for Descubrir y Encontrar in your example.

De acuerdo. Con este contexto, es la mejor posibilidad, pero "Descubrí" es lo que quieres decir, ¿verdad? - 005faa61, Feb 17, 2011
