A sitz bath is normally a shallow bath meant to cover only up to the hips. It could have medicine or epsom salts in the water. It is used for healing, and the epsom salts reduce swelling. Some uses are for painful hemoroids or after childbirth.

Sometimes when people soak their feet in epsom salts they call it a sitz bath, but that is not technically correct. The name comes from the German word for sit. You can buy special tubs for sitz baths in which you remain seated upright, even some that adapt to your toilet.

I'm sure this is more than most people want to know. (My sister is a nurse and I'm good at googling, lol.)

Si no habla inglés puedo transducir a español un poco.

Welcome to the site.
Do I really not want to know what a Sitz Bath is? Pictures, Images and Photos It would appear that some people give the sitz bath equipment for a gift.

"Baño de asiento" seems to be the correct translation. That does not however come with a guarantee. There may be a better translation that is not yet posted.
