Is Juana a catch-all for names that sound similar? I thought Juana was the feminine counterpart of Juan, which we all know is John in English? I know in the US we have women named Johnnie, so maybe Janet is Janet both ways? - cristalino, Feb 14, 2011

Welcome janet!

Here is a link to a thread answering a very similar question about pronouncing English names in Spanish.

As far as what Janet "means" in Spanish, I don't know.
