reflexive, intransitive

Not a lot of difference in meaning, just in grammar.

The difference is reflexive or not reflexive (someone shuting up on their own accord or someone causing someone else to shut up).

Le hice callar .... I made him shut up.

Se calló ...... He shut up.

Cállate ..... Shut up (tú)

Le callé al borracho ..... I shut up the drunkard

This sounds like rough language in English. Is it considered rough in Spanish? - JoyceM, Feb 13, 2011

The ending -arse, is used when someone is doing an action and in the English language we would say -self. For example, to shower oneself is ducharse. To just shower we would say duchar.

Para mí no hay ninguna diferencia.

Ej: .
