I would think a shower (rain) could be of any intensity, but a chubasco is a downpour.

ducha de lluvia ligera

chubasco

"Duches" is not a Spanish word.

Perhaps you're thinking of "Duchas", which means "showers".... but only in the sense of a bath shower, not rain shower.

There are several words for rain in Spanish:

Lluvia: rain

Aguacero: downpour

Chubasco: downpour

Chaparrón: heavy downpour

Lluvia intensa: heavy rain showers

Llovizna: sprinkles

Palo de agua: downpour

Tormenta: storm

I'm sure there are some other regionalisms and idioms that scape me just now.
