A Valentine's Day Card for mi amiga
So my friend and I decided it would be a lot of fun to each write each other a valentine's day card in the language we are studying (her, Latin, me, Spanish). I really want to make my card perfect, grammar and all. So I had a few questions for anyone who wants to answer. First, when you say "Have a Happy Valentine's Day!" What do you capitalize? In English you capitalize everything but "a". Is it the same in Spanish or do you just capitalize "Ten" and "San Valentín" (so like ¡Ten un feliz día de San Valentín!)? Also, I was going to say "It seems like it was just yesterday when we were in fifth grade." Would I say "se parece como era ayer cuando estábamos en quinto curso."? Thanks!

¡Ten un feliz Día de San Valentín! Parece que fue ayer cuando estábamos en quinto curso.
Congratulations for your translation.
When you ask a question and someone gives you an answer, you need to say Thank you.
Entire books have been written on when to use preterit vs. imperfect. This site has more than one lesson with information about it, a lot of archived information about it as well as archived threads about it and a current thread with exercises.
