Communication problems

I have been trying so hard to communicate with a guy from the dominican republic punta cana and It has been so hard just simple words are being translated wrong by me and him. I have been using the google translator and it is not working for me can you help. I am desperate

Go to a book store and look for books from the language your friend speaks. Try that. I noticed tha some translations are wrong. when you loo them up no matter where.

Post some of the sentences that you are having problems with here (after you have made your best attempts at translating them) and perhaps we can make some suggestions.
